Sump Pump Installation in New Jersey
Trusted Basement Protection in New Jersey
Sump Pump Installation That Keeps Your Basement Dry
A sump pump does its most important work at the moments you’re least able to deal with the alternative.
When the power goes out in the middle of a heavy storm, the sump pump is the one piece of equipment deciding whether your basement stays dry.
Princeton Air handles sump pump installation with licensed plumbers, properly sized primary pumps, and battery backup systems that take over automatically during an outage. After the install, spring rains and summer thunderstorms stop being a reason to check the basement, and the finished space below stays protected.

Your Local Plumbers for Sump Pump Installation
Groundwater is a year-round concern across much of the state.
Homeowners in Hillsborough Township, Edison, Hamilton Township, and Lawrence Township have worked with our licensed plumbers to install primary sump pumps, battery backups, and combination systems that protect finished basements from the weather New Jersey sees.
Clay soil, high water tables, and summer storm intensity all shape what the right system looks like, and our plumbers size and configure each installation to the conditions on that specific property.

What to Expect From Your Sump Pump Installation
You should know what the work looks like before anyone touches the basement.
The sump system is easy to install wrong in ways you only discover during the next storm. These four steps exist to prevent issues and make sump pump installation easy and fast.
Your licensed plumber reviews the existing pit, the discharge line, the electrical outlet, and the condition of the foundation around the pit. If the home has never had a sump pump, we evaluate where one should go and what the install would involve.
The basement floor and stairs are protected throughout the work. The new pump is set in the pit, the discharge line is connected and routed away from the foundation, and the electrical is tied in cleanly. Battery backups and combination systems are configured to take over automatically if the primary pump fails.
Water goes into the pit to test actual pump activation, cycle time, and discharge. The check valve, the float switch, and the backup system all get verified. You get a walkthrough of what the system should sound like normally and what warning signs to watch for.
Your relationship with Princeton Air doesn’t end at the install. You have a local team with more than 50 years of experience servicing homes across the region, and we’re the ones you call when anything comes up. Annual sump pump checks keep the equipment ready for the storm that matters.

Why New Jersey Homeowners Choose Princeton Air for Sump Pump Installation
A sump pump install is one of the jobs where quiet competence matters.
For more than 50 years, homeowners across the region have chosen Princeton Air for the equipment that protects the basement.
Sump pump installations cross plumbing and electrical. Our licensed teams handle both sides in the same visit, without the coordination headaches of multiple contractors.
A sump pump too small for the actual groundwater in your neighborhood fails during the storms that matter. We size the equipment against the water pattern your home actually sees, not a generic spec.
A primary pump alone is one power outage from a flooded basement. We talk through battery backup and combination systems on every install because they’re what actually protect the home.
Water pushed out of a sump pit can cause problems of its own if it’s discharged too close to the foundation or into an area that drains back. We route discharge lines properly and away from the house.
From Hillsborough Township and Somerset to Cranbury and Plainsboro, we’ve installed sump systems across the full range of soil and water-table conditions this part of New Jersey presents.
A sump pump is only useful if it runs when asked. Our Home Comfort Club members get scheduled sump system checks so the pump is ready before the next storm.
If the installation isn’t right, we come back. That commitment runs through the first day and every year the work protects your basement.

Sump Pump Installation FAQs
How long does a sump pump installation take?
Most primary sump pump replacements take two to three hours. New sump pit installations, battery backup additions, or combination systems can extend the timeline. Your plumber will give you a clear estimate during the assessment.
Do I need a battery backup?
For most New Jersey homes with finished basements or valuable storage below grade, yes. The storms that flood basements are the same storms that knock out power, and a primary pump with no backup is one power outage from a flood. We walk through the options during the visit.
How often should a sump pump be replaced?
Most pumps last seven to ten years. Heavy use shortens that. Light use in a home with a low water table can extend it slightly. Annual testing is the best way to catch a pump nearing end-of-life before it fails.
Can you install a pump where one doesn’t currently exist?
Yes. Adding a sump pit requires concrete work and proper drain configuration, and we coordinate the scope with you before starting. Retrofit installs are more involved than replacements but often worth it in homes that have had moisture issues.
Where should the water discharge?
The discharge line should route water well away from the foundation, typically at least ten feet from the house, and into an area that drains naturally. Discharging too close to the home can send water right back into the sump pit, which wastes pump life and keeps the basement moist. We plan the routing during the install.
