Responsive, knowledgeable, dependable, & honest. Thank you for getting out heat up & running!

Update:10/12/18
Chris S got the heat last year and remembered when he arrived today, asked if it had a problem since. He came back to do a PM on the heater and while he was waiting for me to arrive, he opened up the air conditioner to inspect it and saw the coils were filthy. Took out his hose and cleaned them. Then when done, did the heater PM and then โ€œsaid I just want to verify that ringing noise went away. Your house will cool much faster now!โ€ I really like what Princeton air offers, quality and care, diagnose and fix. Not rushing to get to the next job. Theyโ€™re so good I got the year round service plan.

Thank you!
The young man who came out to fulfill our annual service contract was extremely professional and was very thorough. Although he told us we needed a new ac unit I felt confident that he knew what he was talking about and took the right amount of time in order to make his recommendation. I want him back every year. Unfortunately I forgot his name because Iโ€™m old.

He then had Ricky call us with replacement ac unit recommendations. He was just as professional. He then took the time to visit our condo, take measurements himself and then made recommendations on what size unit to purchase. I really feel he saved us money. He was amazing.

We then were contacted by a gentleman named Steve who was a manager in the service and installation department. Itโ€™s hard to believe but he was just as good as the first two representatives and was an absolute pleasure to work with. He was a true professional and a real asset to your organization. I will always use your company if I can work with this team. Keep up the great work. Thanks for allowing me to spend $8,000.its hard to believe I didnโ€™t even get other quotes because I was so happy with your team.
Water purification system
Recently Princeton Air did a routine maintenance check on our HVAC UNIT. The technician was Dominic McGinley. I must say Mr. McGinley was outstanding. After performing the maintenance and evaluation, he sat down with us and explained his findings in precise detail. He has also taken pictures of everything he found. Dominic was a pleasure with whom to interact. He was professional, friendly, and extremely knowledgeable. He explained everything in terms that we could definitely understand. He is one of the finest technicians that has ever performed preventative maintenance on our equipment. In my estimation he has all of attributes of a first rate Service Technician. Hopefully Princeton Air just what a valuable asset he is for the company. I certainly hope to interact with him many times in the future.
We recently used Princeton Air to install a new heater. They gave us lots of options, explained each one thoroughly, they arrived promptly on installation day and did a great job. The price was the lowest of three companies I contacted for estimates. Five stars!
Always professional and informative.
We just had our A/C serviced by tech Dominic McGinley who performed a thorough spring maintenance. Dominic was very friendly and courteous. He responded in detail to all my questions spending sufficient time with me.
We had valve and service line repairs from Germaine and Bradley, as well as a toilet replacement. They were great!
Julian found an issue with the ac and resolved it. Explained what the component does that needed replacement.

Water Heater Repair

A water heater that’s misbehaving won’t get better on its own. Small problems have a way of becoming bigger ones when left unaddressed.

Princeton Air’s repair technicians are trained to get to the root of the issue so the fix actually sticks. We take a thorough approach with every service call, inspecting the full system before recommending a course of action. New Jersey homeowners can count on us for dependable repairs across the full range of common water heater problems, including:

A complete loss of hot water usually points to a failed heating element, a tripped circuit breaker, a thermostat failure, or a pilot light problem in gas units. Our technicians pinpoint the cause and resolve it safely and efficiently.

Hot water that fluctuates between scalding and lukewarm, sometimes within the same shower, often traces back to thermostat irregularities, sediment insulating the heating element, or worn internal components that can no longer maintain steady output.

Pooling water near a water heater is never normal. Whether the source is a loose fitting, a faulty pressure relief valve, or a crack developing in the tank lining, prompt attention prevents what starts as a minor drip from turning into significant water damage.

A water heater shouldn’t be heard from the next room. Banging, popping, or rumbling sounds typically mean mineral and sediment deposits have accumulated on the heating element or tank floor. Sediment reduces efficiency and places avoidable strain on the system.

Rust-tinged or murky water flowing from the hot side of your taps often indicates internal tank corrosion or a deteriorated anode rod. Catching this early extends the life of your system and protects the rest of your plumbing from contamination.

Water Heater Maintenance

Most water heater problems don’t appear overnight. Routine maintenance is what catches them before they become emergencies.

Princeton Air offers professional water heater maintenance for New Jersey homeowners who want to protect their investment, maximize efficiency, and avoid the disruption of unexpected breakdowns. A single tune-up each year goes a long way toward extending the life of your system and keeping it running at its best. During a maintenance visit, our technicians work through a thorough service process that includes:

Minerals in New Jersey water settle to the bottom of the tank over time and harden into a layer that the burner or heating element has to work through to do its job. We drain and flush the tank during every maintenance visit, which restores efficiency and reduces the mechanical strain that shortens a tank’s life.

Inside your water heater, one sacrificial rod is quietly taking the corrosion that would otherwise be eating the tank. Once that rod is consumed, the tank walls are next, and replacement becomes a question of months rather than years. Checking the anode rod’s condition is one of the cheapest ways to buy a water heater several more years of service.

The T&P valve exists to open if pressure inside the tank ever climbs dangerously high. Most of them never see that moment, which is exactly the problem: a valve that’s been sitting unused for years can seize. Every maintenance visit includes a functional test to confirm the valve will release when it needs to, not weld itself shut when it matters most.

On an electric water heater, the heating elements are what actually warm the water. On a gas unit, that job belongs to the burner assembly and the venting that supports combustion. Either way, these parts wear, foul, and drift out of spec, and catching a problem at a maintenance visit costs a lot less than catching it when the hot water goes out.

A thorough maintenance visit isn’t just about the tank. It’s an opportunity to evaluate the connections, the thermostat calibration, the seals around every fitting, and the general pattern of how the system is operating day to day. Small things flagged during a tune-up are the things that would have become repair calls three months later.

Water Heater Installation

A water heater that’s properly matched to your home and installed with precision will outperform and outlast one that was simply chosen off a spec sheet and rushed into place.

Princeton Air works with New Jersey homeowners through every stage of the installation process, from selecting the right system to completing a careful, code-compliant setup. We ask the right questions upfront so the unit we install is one you won’t have to think twice about for years to come.

Tank size isn’t one-size-fits-all. A household of two has very different demands than a family of five sharing multiple bathrooms. We evaluate your daily usage patterns and recommend a tank capacity, typically ranging from 30 to 80 gallons for traditional systems, that keeps up comfortably without wasting energy heating water you don’t need.

Newer water heaters deliver measurably better performance than units manufactured even five to ten years ago. Improved insulation, more responsive heating components, and smarter controls all contribute to lower monthly energy costs over the life of the system.

Water heaters installed in basements, utility closets, or garages each present different clearance and ventilation considerations. Our technicians survey the installation site carefully to ensure the unit fits safely, operates correctly, and can be accessed easily for future maintenance.

Gas and electric water heaters each have real advantages depending on what your home is already set up to support. We review your current plumbing, electrical panel, and gas lines to steer you toward the option that integrates cleanly with your existing infrastructure and performs reliably from day one.

The quality of an installation determines how a system performs for its entire lifespan. Our technicians handle every connection, fitting, and safety check with care, meeting all applicable code requirements, verifying safe operation before they leave, and making sure the work area is clean and orderly when the job is done.

Water Heater Replacement

At some point, repairs are no longer the wisest investment. Knowing when that moment has arrived can save New Jersey homeowners significant time, money, and frustration.

Princeton Air helps homeowners make replacement decisions with full confidence. When a new system is the right call, we help you select equipment that suits your household and install it with the care and precision that ensures lasting performance. A new water heater is more than a repair resolution. It’s an upgrade in efficiency, reliability, and long-term confidence in your home’s hot water supply.

Water heaters in the 10-to-12-year range are operating on borrowed time, even if they haven’t failed outright yet. Older units run less efficiently and are far more likely to fail without warning. Proactive replacement puts you back in control.

If our team has been out for service calls multiple times in recent years, the pattern itself is a signal. Repeated breakdowns mean the system’s core reliability is gone and the money going toward repairs is better directed toward a replacement that will actually hold.

A healthy water heater should keep pace with your household. When recovery time slows dramatically or the supply runs thin earlier in the day, the unit has likely lost capacity to sediment accumulation or failing components that cannot be fully restored through repair.

Surface rust and corrosion on the exterior of a water heater are outward signs of deterioration that’s also progressing on the inside. Once corrosion reaches the tank lining, the risk of a sudden leak increases significantly.

Standing water beneath a water heater that doesn’t trace back to a fitting or valve typically means the tank itself has begun to fail internally. At that stage, replacement is the only reliable solution and should be prioritized quickly to avoid water damage.

Why Homeowners Trust Princeton Air for Water Heater Service

A water heater is a plumbing fixture, a gas or electric appliance, and (on gas systems) a combustion device with venting requirements. Work that ignores any of those pieces creates problems later. Our licensed plumbers handle all three sides of the job and coordinate with our electrical team when that’s what a project requires.

Not every plumber is equally comfortable with every type of water heater. We install and service conventional gas and electric tanks, high-efficiency condensing units, tankless on-demand systems, and heat pump water heaters. Whichever type is right for your home, our technicians have the training and the parts inventory to support it.

A tank that fails on Thursday night or Sunday morning shouldn’t force you into cold showers until Monday. Our emergency team responds after hours, on weekends, and on holidays because the actual reality of a failed water heater doesn’t care what day it is.

New Jersey water has enough mineral content to fill the bottom of a water heater with sediment over a few years, which is the silent problem behind most premature water heater failures. Our maintenance program is built to catch and address sediment before it takes a tank out, and we explain what we’re doing and why so you understand the value.

Water heater installations in New Jersey involve specific code requirements for gas connections, combustion air, venting, and (in many municipalities) permits and inspections. We handle those requirements properly every time, because skipping them creates problems that show up during an inspection, a home sale, or an insurance claim.

When a water heater has problems, we give you the real math. A 6-year-old unit with a failed element is worth repairing. A 12-year-old unit with corrosion and a recurring leak probably isn’t. We explain what we’d recommend if it were our house and let you make the call.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s a realistic lifespan for a water heater?

A conventional tank water heater generally performs well for 8 to 12 years under normal household conditions. Water quality, usage volume, and how consistently the system has been maintained all influence where a given unit falls in that range. Annual maintenance tends to push systems toward the longer end.

How do I figure out the right size water heater for my home?

Capacity needs are driven by the number of people in your household, how many bathrooms you have, and how your daily routines overlap in terms of hot water demand. Larger households or homes with high simultaneous demand benefit from greater storage capacity. Our technicians are happy to evaluate your situation and make a specific recommendation.

What does a water heater installation actually take?

Most installations are completed within a few hours. The timeline depends on the type of system being installed and whether any modifications to existing connections are needed. Our team handles the full process. We remove the old unit, install and connect the new one, and test everything before we leave.

How frequently does a water heater need professional maintenance?

Once a year is the general guideline for most systems. An annual service appointment addresses sediment accumulation, checks safety components, and gives a technician the chance to catch anything developing before it becomes a repair call. It’s one of the simplest things a homeowner can do to protect the system.

What early warning signs should I watch for?

Water heaters usually give some indication before they fail outright. Temperature that’s inconsistent or slower to recover, unusual sounds from the tank, water with a rusty tint or cloudy appearance, minor leaks around the unit, and a noticeable drop in available hot water are all worth taking seriously. Catching these early almost always leads to a simpler, less expensive resolution.
