On a holiday weekend, we had an odd metallic smell in our home and couldn't find the source of it but thought it must be electric or HVAC-related. Princeton Air sent Ryan to our house to help us. Despite the smell having dissipated by the time he arrived, Ryan did a thorough inspection of various possibilities and explained to us everything that could cause the smell. By the end, we did discover what the source was, and he also did a thorough inspection of our air conditioning unit and discovered an unrelated issue that he recommended a resolution for, without any pressure to commit to the work. Great service.
We had an excellent experience with Princeton Air on our most recent service call. Field mechanic Daniel Sarajew was professional, knowledgeable, and extremely thorough from start to finish. The issue was clearly explained, the work was completed efficiently, and everything was left clean and in great working order. Daniel took the time to answer questions and made sure the system was running perfectly before leaving. We truly appreciate the high level of service and would highly recommend Princeton Airโ€”especially Danielโ€”for anyone needing reliable and honest HVAC service.
We had an emergency electrical issue on Memorial Day that was taken care of same day. We made an appointment and within two hours our electrician arrived. He fixed the issue within 10 minutes.
Ryan G. was great, really knowledgeable and very helpful in fixing the issue.
Excellent people. The tech was very smart and he was able to find the problem and fix it. We are very happy with Princeton Air Conditioning.
Service man was very profesional and know his job very well.
We had a problem with our sumpump and once the technician came- he knew exactly what to do. The problem was that it was late and he had to come back with the part the next day. Which he did as Que offered. He took less than half hour to install the new part. Our sumpump was under guarantee so we paid nothing
Replaced 22 y/o heater and AC units: super happy from first contact with Weltman to the end of installation. Chris M, Rafael U, and Cesar were a pleasure to work with. Very professional and courteous. Five stars to the whole operation. This comes from a guy who doesnโ€™t like to write reviews.
Michael DeFeo did a great job, great personality and answer all the questions i had about my system. I 100% recommend this company.
After I bought my home, I signed up for the membership program as a precautionary measure and it turned out to be a great decision. Ever since I got a complete AC breakdown which was fixed by Princeton Air technicians, a water heater leak and replacement by Princeton Air in 12h. Let's just say I'm satisfied with the services from them.
The 5 stars is for Allistar !! Thank you Allistar (think thatโ€™s how you spell it) Thanks for comming and helping me out on Tuesday when it was 96 degrees in here and I was melting. Even though I got it replaced in January โ€ฆ Finally somebody that knows what they are doing!!! You are the best ! thanks again for getting it up and running ๐Ÿ‘
Princeton Air always does a great job
Princeton Air personnel provided me with great customer service satisfaction!
I have been a customer with Weltman for years and here recently, Weltman was taken over by Princeton Air. I made an appointment for my seasonal checkup for my air conditioning unit.. Technician Ryan Gobel was dispatched to my home.He came in and was very professional, knowledgeable and tentative to my concerns and he answered all my questions regarding my system..I wanted to change my two zone system back to it's original state as I didn't have 2 units, I have one unit with dual zones. I set up an appointment to have that done. Ryan came back for this appointment to do the work and he had another gentleman he was training by the name of Dayone Brack. They both came in and went right to work. As Ryan changed parts, he showed me the old parts explained the reasons why the part was defective and explained the insulation of the new parts all while training Dayone. After all the work was done, he tested the system to ensure everything was working up to standard. He cleaned up his work area and left my home nice and neat just as he found it. Both Ryan and Dayone even put on shoe coverings without me having to ask. Over all my experience was a good one and I will request Ryan again when it's time for my seasonal maintaince. Keep up the good work Ryan and continue to keep up the excellent customer service. Dayone, good luck with your training and keep up the good work.
Fantastic communication and service quality, they do great work. I have used them for many jobs and would recommend them as the best HVAC vendor in central NJ.
I had an issue with my air conditioner give a call to Princeton air they was very professional and fast respond, love their service
Great job. Worked efficiently. Work area clean
Alberto was great. Super friendly and fixed the problem in no time.
Had a new minisplit system placed. From the initial quote to actual instalation it was very organized and professional. All appointment times given were honored and during the 2 hour windows they would text updates narrowing the actual times for their arrival. Instalation was done in 1 day, for us, and the installers and electrician were very professional during the install and wiring. They were also great about cleaning up after themselves. We just had the three days of 90 plus degrees, this past week, and all our units performed as expected. Incredibly within the 1 degree as promised. This will be my first year not carrying up, and then down again, from our basement the 6 window units I had to place to cool our home. That alone was worth the cost, which was signicant but also very reasonable considering the quality of the outdoor and indoor units used and complexity of the install, in home built in 1947. Thank you Princeton Air!!
Princeton Air technician came out to check out A/C that stopped working yesterday. He went down, checked and diagnosed the problem, and had the air back on within 10 minutes. I recommend this company.

Joe was super thorough and very knowledgeable during his inspection of the commercial HVAC units. I felt informed and well equipped as a potential future tenant. Highly recommend!
As a second generation McAllister, now, Princeton customer in Atlantic County, I am pleased to report another successful system installation. This year it is a state-of-the-art Combi water heater and HVAC installation at the seashore. Scheduling occurred with "military precision." The bevy of workers and equipment arrived on time — all friendly and informative. By the second day all done, manual provided & questions answered. Always a good crew to have onsite. Company was also very helpful in scheduling my A/C system maintenance at the same time as all the other work beating the start of the summer season.
Service man Ryan is always very professional and thorough and takes the time to explain whatโ€™s going on with our heating and air-conditioning system.
I waited all day three times for the repairman. I am going to change my service provider.
Technician was very good.
Prompt, polite, informative, professional, thorough

Whatever’s Wrong With Your Air Conditioner, We’ll Fix It

When cooling problems disrupt your comfort, you want a team that finds the real cause and fixes it right the first time.

Princeton Air has diagnosed and repaired air conditioning systems across New Jersey for more than 50 years. The humid summers in this region push cooling equipment through long run stretches from June through September, and the problems that surface on a hot afternoon often started weeks or months earlier. Our NATE-certified technicians identify the actual issue rather than treating the symptom.

You hear the system running, but the air coming out of the vents isn’t bringing the temperature down. This most often points to a refrigerant issue. Your system may be undercharged from a slow leak at a line connection or coil, and that single condition can shade into longer run cycles, higher energy use, and eventual compressor damage if it goes untouched. A failing compressor or a restriction on the airflow side can produce the same symptom. Our technicians measure the refrigerant charge and system pressures to find what’s actually happening before recommending the repair.

One part of the house feels comfortable while another room stays warm no matter what the thermostat reads. In New Jersey homes, this often traces back to ductwork conditions: leaky joints in unconditioned attic space, undersized returns, or duct runs that were tight from the original installation. A blower running below its rated airflow, a partially clogged evaporator coil, or a system that was never sized correctly for the home can produce the same result. We evaluate the air handling side of the system as carefully as the refrigerant side.

You turn the thermostat down and nothing happens. This is most often a failed capacitor, a worn contactor, a tripped safety switch, or a control board issue. Start capacitors on the outdoor condenser are among the most common failures we see, especially on equipment that has worked through many New Jersey summers. Our technicians test each electrical component in sequence to identify the specific failure, so you don’t pay for guesses.

Grinding from the outdoor unit can mean a compressor or fan motor bearing is failing. Electrical buzzing often points to a contactor on its way out. Musty odors from the vents typically indicate biological growth on the evaporator coil or in the drain pan, which is common in New Jersey’s humid climate where condensate volumes run high through summer. We find the source and handle it properly rather than masking the symptom.

Water pooling around the indoor air handler usually means the condensate drain line has clogged, often with the biological growth that builds up during humid stretches. If you’re seeing ice on the refrigerant lines or the evaporator coil, the cause is different, usually a low refrigerant charge or severely restricted airflow letting the coil drop below freezing. Both need prompt attention, because a frozen system that keeps running can damage the compressor. Our technicians clear the line, correct the underlying condition, and protect the equipment from the damage a water leak can create.

You see a jump on the summer electric bill without any obvious change in how you’re using the system. A cooling system working harder than it should is almost always the cause. The usual culprits are a low refrigerant charge, a dirty condenser coil, a weakening capacitor, or a failing blower motor, and any one of them quietly pulls the system below its rated efficiency. New Jersey’s sustained summer heat makes those losses show up on the bill faster than a homeowner in a milder climate would notice. Our technicians measure system performance against manufacturer specifications and identify what’s holding the equipment back.

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I do if my AC stops working in the middle of summer?

You call Princeton Air right away. Our team answers calls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and we dispatch a technician to your home as quickly as the situation allows. In the meantime, set the thermostat to off to avoid running a failed system, close blinds to reduce heat gain, and keep interior doors open to move air through the home. Our technician arrives prepared to diagnose the issue and restore your cooling.

What’s usually the first thing you check when an AC isn’t cooling?

Our technicians start with the most common failure points: refrigerant charge, airflow at the indoor unit, and the electrical components that start and run the system. A thorough diagnosis moves through each in sequence rather than guessing. The process takes the time it needs, because a careful diagnosis is what makes a repair hold up.

How long does a typical air conditioning repair take?

Most residential AC repairs are completed in a single visit of one to three hours, depending on the issue. Common repairs like capacitor replacements, contactor failures, and drain line clearing take the shortest time. Refrigerant leak repairs, compressor work, and ductwork corrections take longer. Your technician gives you a clear time estimate before beginning, so you can plan your day.

Can I wait to have my AC repaired?

You can, but the longer a cooling issue goes unaddressed, the more likely it is to cause secondary damage. A system running low on refrigerant eventually stresses the compressor, which is the most expensive component to replace. A clogged drain line can produce water damage in the home. A frozen evaporator coil that keeps running can fail the entire system. Early service usually means a smaller, cleaner repair.

What kind of experience do Princeton Air technicians have?

Every air conditioning repair is handled by a NATE-certified technician, which is the recognized certification standard for HVAC work. Princeton Air is also a Carrier Factory Authorized Dealer, a status that requires sustained training and service standards. Most of our field technicians have been with Princeton Air for years, and the team collectively carries decades of experience repairing cooling systems in New Jersey homes.
