Shower Installation Done Right From the Waterproofing Up

The shower is the first thing you use in the morning, and the last thing you want to think about.

A cracked pan, mold that keeps returning, or inconsistent temperature at the valve usually means the work behind the tile is past its life.

Princeton Air handles shower installation with licensed plumbers, modern waterproofing that protects the subfloor and framing, and coordination with tile and carpentry when the project needs it. After the install, the shower holds steady temperature, drains cleanly, and becomes a space you actually enjoy starting the day in.

Need Shower Installation? Princeton Air Is in Your Neighborhood

Shower installations in older New Jersey homes often reveal more than the homeowner expected.

Galvanized supply lines past their life, drain configurations that predate current code, and waterproofing that needs replacing are common findings across Edison, New Brunswick, Lawrence Township, and Cranbury. Our licensed plumbers plan for what’s actually behind the walls before the first tile comes off.

What to Expect From Your Shower Installation

You should know what the work looks like before the first tile comes off the wall.

Shower installs are layered work: plumbing, waterproofing, finish. The four steps below are how we keep your home clean, secure, and work efficiently to install your new shower.

Your licensed plumber evaluates the existing shower, the condition of the supply lines and drain, the surrounding waterproofing, and the scope of what you’re hoping to accomplish. The honest picture of what’s behind the walls drives the recommendations.

Your adjacent surfaces, fixtures, and flooring are protected throughout the work. Demolition is contained, new waterproofing is installed to current code, and the supply and drain plumbing is rebuilt for long-term performance before any finish work begins.

Every connection is pressure-tested before the shower is closed up, and the drainage is verified with running water before the project wraps. You get a walkthrough of the valve, the shutoff, and what to watch for as the new shower settles in.

Your relationship with Princeton Air doesn’t end at the install. You have a local team with more than 50 years of experience servicing homes across the region, and we’re the ones you call when anything comes up.

We have used Princeton Air twice for our HVAC and once for plumbing. Each time, the technician was courteous and professional, and the issues were resolved. We recommend Princeton Air!
Tech from Princeton Air (Brian Hassan) showed up on time and performed yearly maintenance on our Kohler Generator. Very professional and courteous technician. Thanks for taking care of our generator like it was your own.

Just had a tech Cruise Rodriguez trouble shoot a minor wiring issue on our new Carrier furnace which was installed this week. As we were installing a new thermostat WiFi Honeywell there was a mismatch which Cruise located and rewired. System seems to be up and running with new thermostat.
Thank you Cruise for your expert help in resolving this issue.
Dominic is very professional and clearly knows what he is doing .
Jonathon and Louis were professional and neat! They Answered all my questions
Dominic was extremely pleasant, professional, and thorough,. He was also quite efficient. He quickly diagnosed the situation and was able to correct it. He also took the time to patiently explain my thermostat to me. Then he signed me up as a member. So heโ€™s a pretty good sales guy too!
However, I then set up an appointment for maintenance and twice Princeton Air canceled me. Iโ€™m now set up for maintenance the end of June. And thatโ€™s after they tried to set me up the end of July and I complained. And this is after Dominic signed me up as a member. Thereโ€™s something very wrong with their business model and I do not consider this good customer service. I will likely have to look for a different serviceโ€ฆ. something more responsive.
I had a great experience with Princeton Air. I had an issue with a part of my healer leaking. Within an hour of calling about this problem, Dylan, the technician, arrived at my house. He soon identified the problem. The next day 3 technicians came back and replaced the faulty part.
Repair went smoothly and efficiently, very satisfied.
One of the worries anyone with a new system would have is if it turns bad, how can it be cared of. Princeton Air answers that question. They responded quickly, sent technicians to look at the issue, and found the proper solution for you. The coordinator at the office is very nice; she would answer my email, and call me back about it even it was on weekends. Such a call is important because it tells you that you are not left out! Wish they will continue the good service. Feng.
Always appreciative of service from Princeton Air. This time it was to install a new quick-Connect hose for the gas grill. Friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. Thank you for the great service.
Knowledgeable, Pleasant, provided insight for me to make an informed decision that best meets my needs
Technician was knowledgeable. He was able to find the issue quickly and fix the problem without issue.
Very good service. Cruise did a terrific job resolving our problem and was a pleasure to speak with.
I am so thankful to Princeton Air for sending to me your very best technician, Dominic M, on April 2 to do the maintenance for my air conditioner! Dominic is very professional, knowledgeable and talented. He was so thorough and he explained everything to me as he did it in a way to be sure I could understand. He explained what was working well and what problems needed to be addressed, then came out 2 days later and completed the repairs! I'm so thankful and I would highly recommend Dominic M!!

Robert D was here to check a switch and once again he was great. Professional expedient and overall very accommodating .
Tom did a great job of identifying and repairing a pinhole leak in our minisplit AC system. The cost was high, but the amount of labor and material justified it – these things ain't cheap! Tom is a very personable and knowledgeable tech.
Technician arrived promptly and diagnosed the problem with our air-conditioning as being the blower that was not operating properly. Karume advised us of the ordering process, quoted us a price for the part as well as who to contact at Princeton Air Parts Dept on Monday for more information on how long it would take for the part to come in and be installed. Karume is an exemplary employee and is always welcome to make a service call at our house.

Benefits of a New Shower

A properly installed shower changes the daily routine in ways you feel every morning.

Here’s what homeowners gain when they make the investment.

Modern pressure-balancing valves hold a steady temperature even when someone runs water elsewhere in the house. Updated supply lines deliver the pressure your home is capable of, not the pressure an old fixture throttled down to. The difference shows up immediately. A shower that works the same way every time becomes one less thing to think about.

A new shower installed with current waterproofing protects the subfloor, framing, and adjacent rooms from slow leaks. What’s behind the tile matters more than what’s on it, and proper waterproofing is how shower installations last 20 years instead of 10. The investment protects the home well beyond the bathroom itself.

Tub-to-shower conversions, walk-in showers, larger enclosures, and accessible configurations all let the bathroom match the household using it now. Growing families, aging residents, and different mobility needs all shape what the right shower looks like. A bathroom that fits how you live beats a bathroom that matched the people who lived there before.

Updated showers are one of the highest-return bathroom upgrades on resale. Buyers notice them, agents lead with them, and homes with modernized bathrooms move faster and at stronger prices. You get the daily comfort now and the return when it’s time to move on.

Modern materials, better sealants, and current plumbing standards all mean less ongoing maintenance than older installations required. Cleaning is faster, grout stays cleaner longer, and the shower ages better with normal use. Small differences in materials add up across thousands of daily uses.

Why New Jersey Homeowners Rely on Princeton Air for Shower Installation

A shower installation is a project where the quality of the work behind the wall matters more than the finish on the front.

For more than 50 years, homeowners across the region have counted on Princeton Air to get the hidden work right.

Every shower installation is completed by a licensed plumber. The waterproofing, drainage, and supply work are all the responsibility of someone qualified and accountable.

Waterproofing done correctly is invisible until something goes wrong. We don’t cut corners on the parts you’ll never see, because that’s where shower installations fail.

Showers involve demolition, dust, and time in an occupied bathroom. We protect the surrounding spaces, contain the mess, and leave the bathroom clean when the work is done.

From older homes in Hamilton Township and Trenton to newer builds in Plainsboro and South Brunswick, we’ve installed showers in the range of configurations this region presents.

Major shower work often requires permits in New Jersey municipalities. We pull the permits, coordinate the inspections, and make sure the job passes.

Princeton Air covers every system in your home. You don’t chase multiple contractors when one job overlaps with another.

If something about the installation isn’t right, we come back and make it right.

Complete Home Services For Your Home

A shower installation often connects to other bathroom plumbing work.

A shower install is a bathroom-plumbing project that touches waterproofing, drainage, and fixtures all at once. The rest of the bathroom plumbing affects how well it holds up.

When your existing plumbing system needs diagnostic work or a repair, our team handles it with the same care we bring to installation. Catching a small issue early keeps it small.

Annual service is how a plumbing system hits its rated efficiency and lifespan. Routine attention turns a system that might have lasted 10 years into one that lasts 15.

New Jersey hard water shortens the life of every water-using fixture in the house. A whole-home water softener protects everything from the water heater to the kitchen faucet.

Full bathroom plumbing projects often pull multiple fixtures together, from tubs and showers to sinks and toilets. We handle the scope with one licensed plumber and one schedule.

Schedule Your Shower Installation

A new shower is one of the most-used, highest-return upgrades a home can receive.

Whether you’re replacing a worn fixture or converting a tub you don’t use, our licensed plumbers will handle the full scope with attention to what actually matters. Call Princeton Air to schedule your installation.

Shower Installation FAQs

How long does a shower installation take?

Most shower replacements take two to four days depending on the scope and any tile or waterproofing work. Larger custom installs and tub-to-shower conversions can extend that. Your plumber will give you a clear timeline before the work starts.

Can you convert a bathtub into a walk-in shower?

Yes. Tub-to-shower conversions are one of the most common projects we handle. The work includes demolition of the tub, reconfiguring the drain, updating the supply lines, and installing new waterproofing and shower components.

Do I need a permit for shower installation in New Jersey?

It depends on the scope. Straight fixture replacements often don’t, but work that touches plumbing configuration or structural elements usually does. We pull the permits when they’re required so nothing is missed.

What causes a shower pan to fail?

Shower pans typically fail from hairline cracks in the substrate, failing waterproofing below the tile, or settling that shifts the drain alignment. A new installation addresses all three at once.

Can you install a fully custom tile shower?

Yes. We handle the full scope from waterproofing to valve placement, coordinating with tile installers as needed. Custom showers take longer than prefab installations, and we’ll walk you through the timeline and scope during the consultation.
